Parents 4 Change

Parents of children with disabilities in Middlesbrough have been working with the local authority and contact a family's Kathy Rist, to organise parent led conferences to participate in service development.

The first conference held at the Riverside Stadium on 19th November 08 was well attended with over 50 parents and carers expressing their views on services, and discussed 4 main areas of concern. They agreed their priorities were to focus on Information, Key working, Eligibility Criteria to services and Short Breaks.

Focus groups have been arranged and will report back to the next conference organised for 11th March 09.

Parents and professionals working together to influence change have made tremendous progress so far, and will have good news to report on the 11th!
