Education Society Saltburn Swim - 27th Nov 11 @ 2pm

The Education Society is an amazing group of energetic young students all studying teaching degrees at Durham University, and have chosen MAIN Project as their Charity of the Year.  As a result they will organising many events throughout the year and it would be great if people could show their support by sponsoring these events or attending in support of MAIN Project. 

Their next event is at Saltburn Beach on 27th November 2011 @ 2pm, when ten of the members will be going into Saltburn sea in the hope of raising the profile of the Charity and raising money to help keep our services going.

We also need volunteers for the day to help collect donations from the general public, talk about the charity and its beneficiaries or just to provide words of support, a towel to get dry and a cup of tea for those freezing students to get a warm with.

Christmas Disco - 2nd Dec 2011 @ 7pm - Sassari's Middlesbrough

The MAIN Project are holding their first annual staff, supporters, volunteers aond customers joint Christmas Disco.  Through our Adult Social Group, it was quickly identified that the members wanted to have their own Christmas night, like most friends and colleagues do, however this present a particular challenge, with only 20 members - how would this be possible?

So, we decided that the best thing we could do to make this a reality was to combine a Christmas Disco which allowed everyone to come together in a safe, controlled environment to reconnect with what the charity does and why, and allowed those in attendance to celebrate the phenomenal success of The MAIN Project over the past 9 years.

Sassari's have very kindly given us a room to hold the event, and we are selling tickets to cover the cost of the event and food (provided by MAIN Meal) for £7 - What a bargain!

Please do come along and show your support for the project, its staff, volunteers and beneficiaries, and have a great night.

Boxing Day Dip - 26th Dec 2011 @ 11am

Its that time of year again folks, its time for The Boxing Day Dip at Redcar, organised once again by The Middlesbrough Lions, and MAIN Project have managed to secure 20 places for willing volunteers to participate in this extremely popular event.

So why do it?  Lets face it we would all rather be in bed on boxing day or with our families that wading in  Redcar Sea, after all the North Sea is usually averages out at 6 degrees in the Winter.

Not only is this for a great cause, for many it is something they talk about doing but never seem to get round to, and trust us, once that adrenaline gets going you berely feel the cold.

The Boxing Day Dip not only helps MAIN Project to increase awareness of the charity and its beneficaries, it also goes towards supporting Middlesbrough Lions who then go on to use a propotion of the funding to help other Local Charities throughout the year, so you're not just helping MAIN Project, you're also supporting several others (think of the karma points).

Ok, so we appreciate this won't be everyone cup of tea, but you could support in other ways, either by helping one of our volunteers to gain sponsorships, or promoting the event, coming down on the morning of the dip with towels and cheering the guys who do go in would also be fab, but even easier that all this, you can go to our Just Giving Fundraising page.
