Adult Social groups for 19-26 year olds

The MAIN Project have recently launched Adult social groups.

Adult Social Groups

The MAIN Project provide social groups for adults with an Autistic Spectrum Condition. This is the newest addition to our services, and since its launch over Easter 09, we have seen an increase in young people attending.

The social group offers real life experiences to develop social skills in an age appropriate environment. The small groups are well supported by staff and volunteers, where the activites are planned and decided by the people attending. Real friendships are developing and opportunities to try new experiences are offered.

Recent evaluation of the group has produced evidence that the group would like to meet weekly rather than fortnightly, as we are currently doing.

Some quotes from the group:

"I like coming to the social group and meeting new people"

"It's good because you can try other peoples interests out as well as your own"

We currently have one group covering the Tees Valley area, however future developments will include  developing groups for each area.

How to access the group

If you would like to download a flyer for the club click here.

Please contact the MAIN Project initially to make an appointment for a project worker to visit you, or you could come to us. We will ask you a few details about yourself and give you more information about the group, its costs and activities.

Most people are using their direct payment  to access this provision.

An element of transport and activity costs are built into the charges.
