Service Officer

The MAIN project is looking to recruit a Service Officer working within the local community.  The officer role will work within and co-ordinate The MAIN Project’s established social and afterschool club provision whilst supporting families who have children with additional needs with a person centred approach.  In addition to supporting and dveloping our adults services, ensuring services are managed in line with poersonalisation agenda and young people or adults are meeting the outcomes set out in their support plan.  

The role will involve delivering advice and guidance sessions to families, both on a 1-1 basis within the home or in community locations, this will entail signposting, empowerment, informing, along with arranging and promoting these events to ensure sucess.

The successful candidate will be able to:

 

  • demonstrate excellent communication and listening skills;
  •  show extensive knowledge and understanding of ASC and other disabilities and how it effects families;
  • produce reports, keep records, monitor and evaluate progress;
  • set up and when required run weekly clubs for young people or adults with additional needs, this will involve setting out tasks for the group, working in line with individual outcomes;
  • provide specific advice and guidance for families or individuals about gaining access to various services;
  • build rapport with our customers;
  • be proactive, enthusiastic and committed by taking ownership to ensure tasks are delivered;
  • demonstrate knowledge of Person Centred Planning and other approaches
  • To offer supervision, perfomance management, training and support to the Outreach Facilitators and ensure their role and duties are being met under Service Officer's direction;
  • To be able to work independantly and as part of a team;
  • To have an awareness of the Personalisation agenda and how it effects our services;
  • Ensure policies and Procedures are in place and followed within all outreach facilities;
  • Networking within the local community, the ability to present using both power point and verbally with confidence.

This post is a permanent position and is contracted at 37 hours per week.  Flexibility is required around working hours due to the nature of our services, therefore some evening and weekend work may be required.

This vacancy will be split between prodominately based in the community, managing your own diary, working towards meeting the targets set by Project Manager, therefore excellent time management and strong work ethic is required.

Personal development is encouraged and training will be ongoing.

It is desirable, but not essential that you hold a relevant qualification around customer engagement, care work or leadership, and have significant experience in a social care setting with previous management experience.

Applicant should have use of their own transport and a full and clean driving licence, business insurance is essential and evidence of a road worth vehicle.

The role will require an enhanced CRB to be undertaken and appointment will only be made upon return of a clear CRB check.
