Holiday Playschemes

Adult Social Group Volunteers

Tuesday & Wednesday Evening 7-10 pm - Various Community Locations

 

  • Support staff in the delivery of our highly successful Adult Social Group
  • Supporting Adults with Autism to socialise in in safe age appropriate setting 
Volunteers needed to support adults with autistic spectrum conditions; to socialise together as a group.  Adults currently attending this group are between the ages 18-28.  Although the group has no upper age limit.
The groups meet in various community locations and members jointly plan activities.  Usual locations currently chosen are in and around Teesside Park and Middlesbrough.  Adults attend from across the Tees Valley Area.
Volunteers are needed to help the adults develop social skills and confidence whilst developing friendships within the group. Promoting and enabling independence; as appropriate.

Volunteer Minibus Driver

 

Adhoc hours to be agreed - Social Clubs/After School Clubs, Incubation Hubb
To ensure safe and timely transportation of children and young people from our social clubs and after school clubs to their agreed drop off point (i.e. home)
Must be at least 21 years of age and have held a full driving license for minimum 2 years (motor car), and have cat D1
All Drivers will be required to undergo a vehicle familiarsation/driving assessment,prior to volunteering.

Volunteer Minibus Escort

 

Adhoc hours to be agreed - Social Clubs & After School Clubs

To Escort children home in a minibus from our after school clubs or social clubs, safely to their agreed drop off point (i.e.home)
You should have considerable perception and sensitivity in dealing with passengers, who have additional needs.

Volunteer Kitchen assistant  

 

The MAIN Meal is a community interest company which is part of the MAIN Project.

In this voluntary role with us you will be given the opportunity of working with unique individuals on the Autistic spectrum.

 

These individuals are working in the MAIN Meal as part of their work experience.  Your role will be to assist the individuals as and when needed so that they can receive a personalized and positive work experience opportunity.

 

Main activities / duties / responsibilities

  • To Support individuals on work experience.
  • To work alongside the head chef.
  • To ensure that the individual on Work experience works safely at all times.

 

Skills / qualities required

  • Experience of working in a Kitchen environment.
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Works well in a team

 

 Required Time's

  9.30-2.00 Mon/Tues/Wed/Fri - must be available for at least one session.

 

 

  

 

Volunteer Gardener

Area: Middlesbrough, Saltersgill Avenue 

 

Hours: By Agreement

 

The MAIN Project has recently been allocated an allotment in conjunction with Middlesbrough Council and Environment City, and we need volunteers to help us maintain and run the allotment.

 

The allotment will allow young people who attend our services to learn about healthy eating, growing produce and garden maintenance.

 

The allotment will also provide buisness opportunities for adults with additional needs who attend the Incubation Hubb and have an interest in horticulture.

Volunteer Fundraising Support

The MAIN Project is currently looking for volunteers who can help to souce quality raffle, tombola and auction donations from Local Businesses

 

You will need to be outgoing and confident.  

 

Volunteer Promoter

 

Area: Tees Valley

Hours: As agreed

We need volunteer promoters to support the Fundraiser & Communications Officer in raising awareness of the charity, its services and events within the Local Area.

  •  Leaflet & Poster distribution
  • Promoting events and selling tickets
  • Encouraging others to get involved with our fundraising
  • Speaking to others about the charity and its beneficiaries. (Training given)

Volunteer Incubation Hubb

Location: Stockton

Hours:  Mutually agreed

This is a ten week course, one day a week (Wednesdays)

Supporting adults  with an Autistic Spectrum Condition including Aspergers, a Mental Health need or Learning Disability.

You will support individuals to access the business idea incubation hub, this could include reading and writing, assisting individuals in group participation and at break and lunch times.

Volunteers are required to support the individuals so that they can successfully complete the course.

 

  •   Good Communicator  skills, with excellent people skills.  You will enjoy supporting  adults with additional needs.

 

 

Volunteer Stock Processor Hubb

Attic Online has been set up and being run by adults with Aspergers Syndrome, this has been achieved through the adults attending The MAIN Projects Incubation hub.

 

The Attic Online team have identified that they need support with a few areas

  •  Supporting Attic Online in identifying what is saleable and what should be recycled
  • Collection of goods from around the Local Area (person with use of car/van-mileage will be covered, agreed prior to volunteering
  • Encouraging the Attic Online team to stay on task and facilitate communication amongst the team. 

 

 Volunteer Guest Speaker

Location:  Mainly at our office base at South Tees Skills Centre, Grangetown; may occasionally be at other venues in the Tees Valley

 

Hours:  Approximately 1/2 hour, to be mutally agreed, but as and when required.  Unlikely to be more than one per month.

 

To speak about personal experiences in relation to having the autism spectrum at various courses and training events.

 

The MAIN Event wants to give opportunities for people who areon the autism spectrum to be guest speakers during our training events.

 

This will normally involve speaking for approximately 15 minutes about how being on the autism spectrum affects you personally; in particular applying what you are saying in the context to which it is being delivered (for example in schools relate to school experiences).  

 

You will be supported by our Trainer.
